How do I measure my table for a tablecloth?

Determine the Shape: Identify the shape of your table—rectangular, square, round, or oval—before taking measurements.
Measure the Length and Width (for Rectangular and Square Tables):
Length: Measure the longest side of the table from one end to the other.
Width: Measure the shorter side of the table from one end to the other.
Measure the Diameter (for Round Tables):
Diameter: Measure across the center of the table, passing through the widest point. This measurement represents the diameter of the table.
Measure the Length and Width (for Oval Tables):
Length: Measure the longest side of the table from one end to the other.
Width: Measure the shorter side of the table from one end to the other.
Add Drop Length:
Decide on the desired drop length of the tablecloth, which is how much the tablecloth will hang over the edges of the table.
For formal occasions, a drop length of 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 cm) is common.
For casual or everyday use, a drop length of 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 cm) is often suitable.
Add the drop length to each side of your measured dimensions. For example, if you have a rectangular table measuring 60 inches by 30 inches and want a 6-inch drop, your tablecloth size would be 72 inches by 42 inches.
Consider Shape-Specific Measurements:
For rectangular and square tables, you can choose a rectangular tablecloth that matches or exceeds the length and width measurements you obtained. Alternatively, you can opt for a square tablecloth if the length and width measurements are similar.
For round tables, you can choose a round tablecloth that matches or exceeds the diameter measurement.
For oval tables, you can choose an oval tablecloth that matches or exceeds the length and width measurements.
Take into Account the Tablecloth Size Options: Keep in mind that tablecloths are available in various sizes, and you may need to select the closest size that accommodates your measurements. It's generally better to choose a slightly larger tablecloth than one that is too small, as it can be adjusted or draped more easily.
Remember to check the manufacturer's size recommendations and consider your personal preference for the appearance and coverage of the tablecloth.
